OUR STORY

Georgia Tax Credit Scholarship Program
2027 - Apogee

Dear FSA Community,

At Fulton Science Academy, we believe talented and motivated students should have the opportunity to learn, grow, and reach their full potential.

We’re proud to partner with the Apogee Scholarship Fund through Georgia’s Tax Credit Scholarship Program, which allows eligible Georgia taxpayers to redirect a portion of their state income tax liability to support scholarships for qualifying FSA students. For our community, this is about more than a tax credit, it’s about opening doors. Your participation can help make an FSA education possible for deserving students and families while strengthening the community we’re building together.

Georgia’s statewide tax credit allocation is limited, and last year’s allocation was fully committed within days of opening. That’s why early action matters.

2027 pledges are now open. I encourage every FSA family, staff member, alum, friend, and business partner to review the details below, designate Fulton Science Academy, and help us open the door for the next talented FSA student, before the 2027 statewide cap is reached.Thank you for believing in our students, supporting our mission, and continuing to Build What’s Next, Together.

2027 Tax Credit Pledges Are NOW OPEN - Act Early

Redirect Your Georgia Tax Dollars. Open a Door for a Student

Every year, talented and motivated students hope to become part of Fulton Science Academy — students ready to be challenged, discover their strengths, pursue their passions, and reach their full potential. For some families, however, tuition can stand between a talented student and an FSA education. You can help change that.

Through the Apogee Scholarship Fund, eligible Georgia taxpayers can redirect a portion of their Georgia income-tax liability to support scholarships for students attending FSA.For an approved and funded contribution, you receive a dollar-for-dollar Georgia income-tax credit, subject to program requirements and your individual tax circumstances.Your tax dollars can do more than pay a tax.

What Is the Apogee Program?

Apogee is a state-approved Student Scholarship Organization (SSO) that administers Georgia’s Qualified Education Expense Tax Credit Program. Through Apogee, taxpayers can contribute funds that are used to provide scholarships to eligible students, with individual student eligibility determined in accordance with Georgia law and Apogee’s program requirements.

Instead of sending all of your state income taxes to the Georgia Department of Revenue, you can designate a portion of those taxes to support education at FSA. Your contribution is eligible for a dollar-for-dollar state income tax credit, meaning it costs you nothing beyond what you already owe in taxes.

How It Works

1. Submit a pledge today
on the Apogee website.
2. The state will confirm how much you can redirect.
3. Early next year, you make your payment to Apogee.
4. When you file your 2027 Georgia taxes, you’ll receive a dollar-for-dollar credit for the amount you pledged. In other words, it costs you nothing extra. But your choice makes all the difference—you’ve helped sponsor a hardworking FSA student who needs financial assistance, giving them the chance to grow and succeed with a strong education.

Why Act Now?

Georgia's education tax-credit program has a statewide annual cap, and tax credits are available through a first-come, first-served state preapproval process.

Last year showed just how quickly the opportunity can disappear:The entire $120 million 2026 statewide tax-credit allocation was fully committed by January 3, 2026.That's why we are encouraging our FSA families, staff, alumni, friends, and business community to pledge early for 2027.

Don't wait until tax season. Submit your pledge now so Apogee can prepare your request for the 2027 state preapproval process.

Is This A Donation Or A Tax Credit?

For Georgia income-tax purposes, this program provides a tax credit for an approved and funded contribution to a qualified Student Scholarship Organization.

A tax credit is different from a tax deduction.A deduction generally reduces the income on which taxes are calculated. A tax credit directly reduces the amount of tax owed.

For example, subject to applicable tax rules and your Georgia income-tax liability, an approved $2,500 contribution can generate a $2,500 Georgia income-tax credit.

Who Is Eligible to Receive the Scholarship at FSA?

Scholarship eligibility is governed by Georgia law and Apogee's program requirements.

Generally, eligibility may include certain students entering eligible pre-K, kindergarten, or first-grade programs; students transitioning from Georgia public schools; and certain students who meet other eligibility pathways established under Georgia law.

Eligibility requirements can change and may depend on a student's individual circumstances. Families interested in scholarship eligibility should contact FSA or Apogee for current requirements.

Can I designate my contribution for a particular FSA student?

No. Georgia tax-credit contributions cannot be designated for a particular individual student.

You may designate Fulton Science Academy as the participating school you wish to support, while FSA awards scholarship funds based on demonstrated financial need and individual student eligibility as determined by Georgia law and Apogee requirements.
